ESO Enhanced Edition Tamriel shines with a new light on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S

For a long time, people have known that the next-generation upgrade of Elder Scrolls Online is coming. ZeniMax Online Studios and Bethesda have only now revealed when it will launch and what improvements it will bring. Details about the enhanced version of the Console can now be found on the ESO official website, which separates the MMO settings on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S from the version on PS4 and Xbox One.

When will the enhanced version of the ESO console be released? The next-generation versions of PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will be available on June 8, 2021. The improved performance will appear together with the Ob-destruction expansion of Blackwood and Update 30’s door.
Next-generation free upgrade: The Elder Scrolls has repeatedly emphasized that all owners of “The Elder Scrolls Online” get the next-generation version for free. Previously, ESO could only be played on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through backward compatibility.

The more beautiful Tamriel on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
The ESO version has been adapted to more powerful hardware, with some improvements in display and performance. The game is played natively in 4K on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, letting us choose between performance and quality modes.

All improvements are clear at a glance:
60fps: Although we are limited to 30fps on Xbox One and PS4, ESO runs smoother on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 due to 60fps, which can positively impact our response time.
Higher visibility: The visibility has been doubled, allowing us to see more Tamriel. This also means that the enemy can be spotted earlier.
Higher-resolution textures: The textures look more refined and more delicate.
Improved anti-aliasing: For example, the grass appears clearer due to better edge smoothing.
Improve reflection effect: Especially in water, the enhanced reflection effect makes the environment look more realistic. However, in performance mode, these effects may vary by region.
Improved shadows: The shadows have a higher resolution, and the visibility of the shadows has been doubled. Better environmental coverage can also enhance shades.
Improved depth of field: adjustments make the background look more realistic, such as when interacting with NPCs.
Load time is shorter: Compared with Xbox One and PS4, load time is reduced. According to statistics from ZeniMax Online, these figures are “almost halved” on average.

Besides, ZeniMax Online announced that they would like to release more information about the ESO console’s enhanced version on June 8. We can get more information about performance and quality modes here.
ESO Blackwood
However, more information about the ESO extension Blackwood is currently being broadcast live.
